Odran has told Mallory stories of her missing father's adventures her whole life. Mallory has never known her father, who disappeared the day she was born. Mallory has become suspicious that the stories aren't the whole truth, and on the car ride home, she and Odran fight, and Odran finally tells her that her father wasn't as great as she's been led to believe. In this scene, Odran bonds with Mallory over the pain of his lost son.
